Program Associate Fellowship

Our network of Chapters drives the impact of our movement. Students from our Chapters start and run sustainable businesses to generate funds and then design and implement international development projects, in conjunction with community partners.  Nourish is a network of 60 Chapters and plans to grow to 65 Chapters in the 2015-16 school year.

We are seeking applicants for the Program Associate position, a member of the Goldstein Fellowship, to support this growth. This full-time position at our National Office in Chapel Hill, NC works to facilitate and accelerate Chapter growth through mentorship and guidance. This position is an opportunity for an individual with superior communication, organization, relationship building and management skills to play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term success of our movement. 

Position Description: The Program Associate works on the Chapter Support team, coordinating and providing support to the Chapter network. Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Associate is responsible for training and guiding Chapters to succeed in ventures, international projects, membership and leadership.

Main responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting Chapters in planning and executing profitable business and event ventures
  • Training Chapters in selecting, planning, and preparing for a six to eight week development project abroad
  • Mentoring student leaders in recruiting members and organizing leadership positions
  • Maintaining communication between the Chapter Network and the National Office
  • Managing and creating training resources for the Chapters
  • Communicating best practices between Chapters and connecting Chapters to on campus business, social entrepreneurship, and international development resources
  • Directly supporting 20 Chapters with regular calls, emails, Chapter visits, and resources created and maintained for Chapters
  • Working with the Chapter Support team to creating new resources and opportunities for Chapters that respond to and answer student driven requests.
  • Working on other initiatives as dictated by the Program Director and Executive Director

Required Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate college degree, graduated within the last four years preferred
  • Previous leadership experience, preferably with a Nourish Chapter
  • Previous international service experience preferred
  • Some business background is beneficial

Finance and Operations Associate Fellowship

We are seeking applicants for the Finance and Operations Associate position, a member of the Goldstein Fellowship, to support this growth. This position is an opportunity for an individual with superior organization, communication and financial skills to play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term success of our movement.

The Finance and Operations Associate will work closely with the Operations Coordinator, Development Coordinator and Executive Director to manage office needs and finances for the organization while participating in our GOLDSTEIN FELLOWSHIP and gaining firsthand experience in all areas of non-profit finance and operations/administration.

Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping, including entering of National Office expenses and revenues
  • Manage financial and donor databases, including entering new records, pulling reports, and updating records for the organization
  • Assist as needed with National Office phone-a-thons, mailers, and letter campaigns for donors
  • Write and mail thank you letters to Nourish donors as needed
  • Send annual tax letters to donors
  • Assist in office with day-to-day needs: open mail and distribute, answer the phone and take messages, greet visitors
  • Re-order office supplies and serve as the point person for outside vendors
  • Manage expense and revenue filing systems, including document retention and destruction
  • Pull reports for monthly budget meetings with senior management
  • Assist the Operations Coordinator with the National Office’s small business ventures: Corporate Hunger Lunch, Travel Nourish, Shop Nourish
  • Assist the Development Coordinator with fundraising research, reports, and record keeping
  • Assist the Executive Director in Board work, specifically email correspondence and preparing presentations

Qualifications & Technical Competencies

  • High level of attention to detail
  • Exceptional communicator
  • Previous experience in finance, office management, business development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks and Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented individual who excels in an entrepreneurial environment

Required Education and Experience

Fellowship Benefits

  • Monthly stipend of $1200 after taxes.
  • $300 professional development stipend, provides opportunities for personal and professional development through conferences and staff trainings
  • Firsthand experience in a growing non-profit
  • Rotations through different departments within the organization to gain hands-on skills in different areas
  • Experience of working directly with staff and the Board of Directors on organizational performance
